My Dog Built a Time Machine
I always knew my dog, Buddy, was smart—but I didn’t realize how smart until I walked into the garage and found him sitting beside a glowing metal contraption with wires, lights, and what looked like a microwave duct-taped to a skateboard. At first, I thought he had just torn apart the recycling bin. But then the lights blinked, a loud zap filled the air, and in a flash—Buddy disappeared.
Yes. My dog built a time machine.
Seconds later, he reappeared wearing a medieval knight’s helmet and carrying a bone that looked like it came from a dinosaur museum. He wagged his tail proudly and barked twice. I stood there frozen, wondering if I was dreaming. I wasn't. That bone is now on display in our living room.
Over the next week, Buddy made several “trips.” One day he returned wearing sunglasses and what looked like a toga. Another time, he had sand in his fur and a tiny pyramid-shaped rock tied to his collar. He even brought back a futuristic-looking chew toy that glowed in the dark and floated midair!
Apparently, all those hours watching science documentaries together paid off. I should’ve known something was up when I caught him pawing at my laptop and dragging extension cords to the garage.
Now, Buddy only travels once a week—mostly to avoid messing with the space-time continuum. But every time he hops into his homemade time machine, I get the feeling he’s off solving ancient mysteries… or maybe just hunting for the world’s best treats.
So if you ever hear a loud zap and see a golden retriever in a spacesuit walking down your street, don’t worry. It’s just Buddy, my genius dog, taking another quick trip through time.
